As lead developer for Ammonia Technician VR, I've had a hand in building nearly everything from the ground up. World design, scripting, tool design, more scripting, shader and material management, diegetic UI, and more.
We created a digital twin of Lanier Technical College's ammonia operator lab, from the machines to the AC vents in the ceilings and the ammonia flowing through the pipes. I handled player interactions using Unity's physics engine, with heavy emphasis on their joints system. I created custom shaders to illustrate ammonia flowing through pipes, simulate buildup of ice/dirt on machine parts, and keep consistent texture scaling across architectural features.
My pride and joy from this project has been the development of my Instructable Task System. I created a tool to guide users through the steps of starting up each ammonia refrigeration system in the lab. The Instructable system makes heavy use of the observer pattern, and is set up entirely in the inspector. It uses a floating canvas that follows the GLOSS design philosophy of Job Simulator's VR subtitle system, as well as stationary canvases for clear labeling.
